After the East Sunday Mass, the Pope goes up to the central balcony of St. Peter's Basilica, from where he imparts the Urbi et Orbi blessing, with which we can gain plenary indulgence.
The pope will go out on the balcony, and the bands of the Italian army, the Swiss guard and the Vatican gendarmerie sing the Italian anthem and the Pontifical March, the anthem of Vatican City. Then the pope addresses a message. Concluded this, the cardinal protodeacon will announce that the pope will impart the blessing.
Then the Pope will make the previous invocations, which are answered with "Amen", and will impart the blessing by making the sign of the cross three times.
Before the imparting of the Blessing, the Pope would greet the faithful gathered in their native languages starting in Italian (in honor of Italy, where the Vatican City is located) and ends in Latin with the greeting for the latter is from a phrase or bible verse related to the Season and is also used for the greeting cards send by the Vatican to anyone who wish to receive one.
This began sometime during the Pontificate of Pope St. Paul VI, who at first only used a dozen languages. Pope St. John Paul II added some 50 more languages during his Pontificate, for example Cambodian was first used in 1985, Esperanto in 1994. In 1999 he added Mongolian, Aramaic, Maori and Samoan, and Burmese in 2002.
Pope Benedict XVI then added 3 more languages; Guarani in 2008 and in 2010, he added Kazakh and Icelandic.
Pope Francis due to his inability on to be as linguistic as his predecessors currently doesn't use the pluringural greetings.
So here are all the greetings in order, beginning in Italian and ending in Latin. All of the languages are in their phonetics, this way it is easy to read and understand.
