INTRODUCTORY NOTE
The euchological and biblical texts of the Holy Mass correspond to the 6th Sunday of Easter. The Eucharistic Prayer is I, with the Preface I of Easter being used.
Some significant texts are reported here: the rite of taking possession of the Cathedra Romana, prayers of the faithful and the final blessing.

Holy Father:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
R. Amen.
Peace be with you.
R. And with your spirit.
Taking possession of the Cathedra Romana
The assembly remains standing.
The Cardinal Vicar expresses the joy of the Church in Rome at the moment in which the Roman Pontiff takes possession of his Chair:
Beatissimo Padre,
la Chiesa che è in Roma partecipa con letizia
alla presa di possesso della Cattedra Romana
del successore dell’Apostolo Pietro.
Come il vignaiolo che sorveglia dall’alto la vigna,
così il vescovo è posto in posizione elevata
per prestare sollecita attenzione al popolo che gli è affidato.
Occupare la Cattedra pastorale
significa provvedere con amore al gregge di Cristo.
L’onore del pastore, infatti, è l’onore di tutta la Chiesa
ed è per i fratelli nel battesimo valido e sicuro sostegno.
Colui che è «Servo dei servi di Dio»
sarà veramente onorato
quando a ciascuno sarà riconosciuto l’onore che gli spetta.
Possa il Pastore supremo del gregge al suo ritorno
trovare la Chiesa confermata nella fede e ardente di carità.
Most Holy Father,
the Church in Rome joyfully participates
in the taking possession of the Roman Chair
by the successor of the Apostle Peter.
Like the winemaker who watches over the vineyard from above,
so the bishop is placed in an elevated position
to pay careful attention to the people entrusted to him.
To occupy the Pastoral Chair
means to provide with love for the flock of Christ.
The honor of the pastor, in fact, is the honor of the whole Church
and is for the brothers in baptism valid and sure support.
He who is "Servant of the servants of God"
will be truly honored
when each one is recognized with the honor that is due to him.
May the supreme Shepherd of the flock upon his return
find the Church confirmed in faith and burning with charity.
The Holy Father ascends to his Chair and sits.
A representation of the Church in Rome gives "obedience" to the Pope.

La schola (Mt 16, 18-19):
Tu es Petrus, et super hanc petram
ædificabo Ecclesiam meam,
et portæ inferi non prævalebunt adversus eam,
et tibi dabo claves regni cælorum.
You are Peter, and on this rock
I will build my Church,
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

1. I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth. R.
2. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
At the words who was conceived... up to the Virgin Mary, all bow,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried,
descended into hell. R.
3. On the third day he rose from the dead,
ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. R.

Fratelli e sorelle,
sorretti dalla certa speranza del Paraclito,
innalziamo al Padre la nostra fiduciosa preghiera.
Brothers and sisters,
supported by the certain hope of the Paraclete,
let us raise our confident prayer to the Father.

Noi ti preghiamo.

Lord, hear our prayer.

lo Spirito del Signore risorto
la sostenga nell'opera di evangelizzazione

may the Spirit of the risen Lord
sustain her in the work of evangelizing
all the peoples of the earth.

lo Spirito di sapienza
lo guidi nel suo ministero di Vescovo di Roma

May the Spirit of wisdom
guide him in his ministry as Bishop of Rome

lo Spirito di consiglio
li illumini nella ricerca sincera della pace
e del vero bene di ogni uomo.
For those who have civil and economic responsibilities:
May the Spirit of Counsel
enlighten them in the sincere search for peace
and the true good of every man.
4. Per i tutti i sofferenti:
lo Spirito consolatore
vinca lo scoraggiamento, li sostenga nella lotta
e doni forza nelle fatiche.
For all those who suffer:
May the consoling Spirit
overcome discouragement, support them in the struggle
and give strength in their toil.
5. Per coloro che partecipano a questa Eucaristia:
lo Spirito di pietà
li unisca nella fede e nell'amore,
per diventare uno in Cristo.
For those who participate in this Eucharist:
may the Spirit of piety
unite them in faith and love,
to become one in Christ.
