N.B.: The rite of Habemus Papam is found in the two Ordines issued by the Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff in relation to the conclave: the Ordo Rituum Conclavis and the Ordo pro Ministerii Petrini Initio Romae Episcopi. For the reader's convenience, the pertinent texts from both Ordines have been consolidated and presented in a single post.

Ordo Rituum Conclavis
The Solemn Announcement
of the Election of the Supreme Pontiff
and His First "Urbi et Orbi" Blessing
***
INFORMATIVE NOTE
11. The fifth chapter deals with the Solemn Announcement of the Election of the Roman Pontiff and his first Urbi et Orbi Blessing. According to tradition, the solemn announcement of the election of the Roman Pontiff is first given to the people of God; then the newly elected Roman Pontiff imparts the first Urbi et Orbi Blessing from the external Benediction Loggia of the Vatican Basilica.
***
74. The first Cardinal Deacon, from the external Benediction Loggia of the Vatican Basilica, announces aloud to the people the election of the new Pontiff, with these words:
Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum;
habemus Papam:
Eminentissimum ac Reverendissimum Dominum,
Dominum N.
Sanctae Romanae Ecclesiae Cardinalem N.
qui sibi nomen imposuit N.
I announce to you with great joy;
We have a Pope;
The most eminent and most reverend Lord
Lord N.
Cardinal of Holy Roman Church N.
Who has taken the name N.
75. Shortly thereafter, the Roman Pontiff himself, preceded by the Cross and accompanied by the Cardinals who are first in the Order of Bishops, Priests, and Deacons, goes to the external Benediction Loggia of the Vatican Basilica, and from there, he greets the people and imparts the Apostolic Blessing "Urbi et Orbi."
76. The Conclave will end immediately after the newly elected Supreme Pontiff has given his assent to his election, unless he decides otherwise.
77. Until that moment, the Substitute of the Secretariat of State, the Secretary for Relations with States, the Prefect of the Papal Household, and anyone else who must deal with the elected Pontiff on matters that are necessary at the time may approach the elected Supreme Pontiff. Once the Conclave has concluded, all the Cardinal electors, with the newly elected Supreme Pontiff, may celebrate the Eucharist in the Sistine Chapel.
78. At an appropriate time, as the Supreme Pontiff decides, the solemn inauguration of the Pontificate will be celebrated. Within a suitable time, the Pontiff will take possession of the Patriarchal Lateran Archbasilica, which is the Cathedral Church of the Diocese of Rome and the Head and Mother of all the Churches of the world.

Ordo Rituum pro Ministerii Petrini Initio Romae Episcopi
The Solemn Announcement
of the Election of the Supreme Pontiff
and His First "Urbi et Orbi" Blessing
***
INFORMATIVE NOTE
3. The Roman Pontiff-elect is presented to and acclaimed by the people gathered together. To this is devoted the first chapter of the Ordo, which has its origin in the practice of the ancient Church, whereby the Bishop was elected with the participation of the clergy and the people. The election of the Bishop of Rome (cf. Ordo Rituum Conclavis) preserves this distinctive character, inasmuch as each Cardinal is the titular of a Roman church or of a suburbicarian diocese and is thereby rooted in the ecclesial life of Rome.
Having been presented to the people, the Pope-elect imparts his first Blessing upon the City and upon the World, thereby manifesting by this act that his pastoral ministry is directed to the diocesan community of Rome, to the whole Church, and to the entire world.

30. The first of the Cardinal Deacons, from the Central Loggia of the Vatican Basilica, announces in a loud voice to the people the election of the new Supreme Pontiff, saying:
Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum;
habemus Papam:
Eminentissimum ac Reverendissimum Dominum,
Dominum N.
Sanctae Romanae Ecclesiae Cardinalem N.
qui sibi nomen imposuit N.
I announce to you with great joy;
We have a Pope;
The most eminent and most reverend Lord
Lord N.
Cardinal of Holy Roman Church N.
Who has taken the name N.
31. Shortly thereafter, the same Roman Pontiff, preceded by the Cross and accompanied by the Cardinals who are first in the Orders of Bishops, of Priests, and of Deacons, proceeds to the Central Loggia of the Vatican Basilica. From there, he greets the people and imparts the Apostolic Blessing, Urbi et Orbi.
32. The Holy Father:
Sancti Apostoli Petrus et Paulus,
de quorum potestate et auctoritate confidimus,
ipsi intercedant pro nobis ad Dominum.
R. Amen.
May the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul
in whose power and authority we trust,
intercede for us before the Lord.
Precibus et meritis beatæ Mariæ semper Virginis,
beati Michaëlis Archangeli,
beati Ioannis Baptistæ,
et sanctorum Apostolorum Petri et Pauli
et omnium Sanctorum,
misereatur vestri omnipotens Deus et,
dimissis omnibus peccatis vestris,
perducat vos Iesus Christus ad vitam æternam.
R. Amen.
Through the prayers and merits of Blessed Mary, Ever Virgin,
Saint Michael the Archangel,
Saint John the Baptist,
the holy apostles Peter and Paul,
and all the saints,
may Almighty God have mercy on you and
forgive all your sins,
and may Jesus Christ bring you to everlasting life.
Indulgentiam, absolutionem
et remissionem omnium peccatorum vestrorum,
spatium veræ et fructuosæ pœnitentiæ,
cor semper pænitens et emendationem vitæ,
gratiam et consolationem Sancti Spiritus,
et finalem perseverantiam in bonis operibus
tribuat vobis omnipotens et misericors Dominus.
R. Amen.
May the almighty and merciful Lord grant you
indulgence, absolution
and the remission of all your sins,
a season of true and fruitful penance,
a well-disposed heart, amendment of life,
the grace and comfort of the Holy Spirit
and final perseverance in good works.
Et benedictio Dei omnipotentis,
Patris, + et Filii, + et Spiritus + Sancti,
descendat super vos et maneat semper.
R. Amen.
And may the blessing of Almighty God,
the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
come down on you and remain with you forever.
